The lovely Roxanne Hernandez can often be found in her home studio, recording hold messages for TimeWarner Cable or commercials for Ford, and while we’ve certainly enjoyed hearing her when our cable goes out, we do prefer to be lulled into happy submission by her work as a narrator. Roxanne has a strong theatre background, and has narrated many audiobooks, including many from New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury; Roxanne’s work on the tender-hearted Unlocked made her an Audie finalist in 2010. Simply put, Roxanne can do anything. Perhaps it’s her multi-lingual abilities—she’s also fluent in Spanish—that give her such an incredible grasp of language, an ability to read between the lines of a script and find oh so much to work with.

For ENDER’S GAME ALIVE, we cast Roxanne in the role of Petra—one of the only girls at Battle School and kind of a big sister to Ender—for her ability to be simultaneously tough, vulnerable, and just plain ol’ entertaining, which she was. In addition to playing Petra to absolute perfection, Roxanne tirelessly filled in the gaps wherever needed, playing various boys, girls, soldiers, salamanders, and more. And it should be mentioned that she is just a ball of sweet joy to have around. She has a terrific, catching energy that makes her a wonder to work with; she just has a way of lifting the spirits of everyone around her. And did we mention that she’s funny too?
